Time

I think for those of us who stay at home, this is an ongoing issue. All through the
homeschool years, I had to make choices that were not popular and say no to lots of
"good" things in order to do "better" things. There is a quote that makes its rounds
occasionally--and of course I can't remember it (it and tons of other things!). But to
the effect that if we choose to do "good" things, we may be too busy to do the
"best" things. There are so many, many, truly *good* things to be involved in. We
need to prayerfully make these decisions--and listen to our husbands' opinions.
It may help to also consider that if we approach our job as wife and mother as a
*true* occupation--a worthwhile work in and of itself--then we will view the time
needed to do our job well as necessary and important. We will be given many
opportunities to do other things--and most of those will be there when our children
are grown. But if we do not do the job God has put in our hands *right now*, there
will not be the opportunity to do it over in the future. Our children will grow up and
there will be time for other things then. And if that future never comes for us, then
we will have done the most important work while here.
We need to choose carefully and our choices may not be the same that others would
make! Do not judge yourself by anyone's standard other than God's. My two are
grown now and I am still at home--hoping to fulfill God's commands for older women.
But there are still those who think *they* know best how my time should be filled.
